Iowa Tests
of Basic SkillsŪ (ITBSŪ)
ITBS scores are intend to measure an aspect of the student performance and is designed to find out how much a student
knows.
It is a test given on a specific day of the year, and does not represent the
overall performance of the student. Student performance needs to have a more
holistic view which includes homework grades, test grades, teacher evaluations,
writing skills and social behavior. Test scores can be skewed by one student,
having other issues affecting them on the test day.
ITBS compares student performance to a
representative sample of the population in the same grade and at the same time
of the year. It is an indicator of strengths and weaknesses in specific achievement
areas.
The National School Norms compare that class ranking against all other
classes on that level at that time of the year to give a ranking relative to
all other schools on a national basis. The scores show how each grade at
Spring Creek Academy ranked on a percentile basis. This is a National Norm for
all students at Spring Creek Academy in that grade relative to all students
tested on National basis in a similar grade.
Core Scores are made up of the subject of Reading (Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension),
Language (Spelling, Revising Writing), and Math (Concepts, Problem Solving).
