About Spring Creek Academy School

Spring Creek Academy for the Talented, Gifted and Motivated Thank you for your interest in Spring Creek Academy, a school for the gifted, talented, and highly motivated. Students thrive in a culture of success and goal oriented students without the distractions of the public school systems. We are fully accredited by the state of Texas, offering grades 1-12. Our goal is to provide a learning environment conducive to success with class size's averaging 8 qualified students.

We are a half-day school program with a morning session from 9:00-11:30, and an afternoon session from 12:30-3:00. A half day program is one where a full academic schedule is compressed into one half the time. This enables the students to participate in extracurricular activates in a more vigorous way. Thus our students, have a balanced education but in a highly focused venue. Parents are often unsure of a half day program, because it is not what they have come to expect from other schools. Spring Creek Academy has been doing this innovative educational program for over 10 years with outstanding success. We measure the performance of the students each year against the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) to insure that we are meeting expectations. SCA continues to score in the top 2% of all schools that use the ITBS test. This is based on the average score of all students enrolled in SCA.

The test results from the ITBS are given to the parents at a yearly conference, enabling the parents to track the progress of their students. The ITBS is a nationally based test of wide ranging skills, as opposed to the state TAKS test which only measures minimum skill level to progress to the next grade level. We do not adapt our curriculum to teach to the ITBS test, because it is so comprehensive. We often see students actually improve their overall national ranking year after year as proof of the education format here at Spring Creek Academy. In addition to the annual testing, Spring Creek Academy makes all student assignments and grades available to the parents via Class Roll online system. This is a secure way to ensure that parents know what is going on in the classroom as well as the performance of their child.

Our students are graduating fully prepared to attend the top universities in the country, as demonstrated by our track record. Because all our students are immersed in a school environment surrounded by so many highly motivated, successful, goal-oriented students, the personal motivation bar is raised for all. Success breeds success. Most, if not all, of SCA's graduating seniors who sought scholarships received them because of their dedicated work at Spring Creek Academy and their pursuits of excellence in their chosen endeavors. Spring Creek Academy is not just for the already accomplished athletes or performers, but those aspiring to be outstanding. SCA is actively recruiting students who may have an interest in attending.

SCA graduates are now attending some of the finest universities in the country. Our graduates are attending universities such as Princeton in the east and Stanford and UCLA in the west. Some of the other universities are Texas A&M, SMU, University of North Texas, and Baylor locally, along with Alabama State, Arizona State, Florida State, Illinois State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State University, University of Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota and North Carolina. We even have an alumnus at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

We are equally proud of our student's achievements outside of our classrooms from, an Olympic Gold medalist, World and National Champions, and other accolades given to our students in the arts. The student body is very diverse including gymnasts, ice skaters, hockey players, tennis players, golfers, equestrians, soccer players, accomplished instrumentalists, dancers, and actors that have appeared in many films. We also host foreign exchange students from time to time who come to study and practice their skills here in the Dallas area.

We are very proud of our campus, which consists of high school, middle school and elementary school buildings. Our campus is adjacent to the Chisholm Hike and Bike Trail in Plano. We are tucked away on a cul-de-sac easily accessible from Custer Rd, offering a quiet campus with lots of open space around us. Each building is self-contained with 8 classrooms, a computer lab in the high school and the middle school, and a library in the elementary school. As we have grown, we have maintained our proven academic results and the special personality of our school that has earned us praise from our students and their parents.

The application process includes qualifying test scores, recommendations from both a math and English teacher, and an interview between the student and a member of our admissions committee. Qualifying test scores are found on a standardized achievement test that contains a national percentile ranking. This would include, but is not limited to, an Iowa Test of Basic Skills or a Stanford Achievement Test. An Iowa test is administered here for a fee of $75.00. Students attempting to enter with a previous test score must have taken the test within the past twelve months. The Core Total score must be at the 70th percentile or above.

Students submitting applications for admittance before January 13, 2009 will receive the early registration fee of $200.00. From January 14, 2009 to April 16, 2009 the normal registration fee of $250.00 will apply. After April 16th, 2008 the late registration fee of $300.00 will be assessed. Early registration is strongly encouraged to ensure a spot in our rapidly filling classes.

Tuition for the 2009/2010 school year for grades K-8 is $ 5,970.00 with a book fee of $300 per student. Tuition for grades 9 - 12 is $1,197 per year for each credit ($597 per ½ credit) with a book fee of $400. Registration and book fees are due at the time the student registers. There are two payment options for tuition: Pay in full with a 5% discount, or in equal monthly payments (for the months that school is in session) with no additional interest.

Spring Creek Academy offers a variety of classes during the summer. These classes are also available to students other than those enrolled at Spring Creek Academy. Due to the fact that we are accredited by the state, all high school credits earned are fully transferable. Students interested in these summer classes need to be of the same caliber as our own students to keep pace with the class. Our students seem to prefer the compressed class time and the parents prefer the reduced cost. A complete list of classes being offered this summer is available from our office.
