Giving Back to the Community

Spring Creek Academy for the Talented, Gifted and Motivated Spring Creek Academy encourages all students to participate in a volunteer program of their choice. The students organize their efforts through Student Council, Volunteer Council, National Honor Society, Boy Scouts, or individual efforts. During the 2006 - 2007 school year we received a national award from the President's Council on Volunteerism.

One of the programs we are most proud of is our Blanket Project. Volunteers knit or crochet 8 inch by 8 inch squares of yarn. Then 35 squares are laced together to create beautiful blankets. We have completed over 47 blankets that have been donated to various organizations including Project Linus and the Samaritan Inn for Women. Squares have been donated from all over the country. Friends and relatives associated with our students and staff members have contributed to the success of this project. We collect squares, then lace them together and distribute blankets all year and are delighted to receive donations. Any pattern may be used. This project is a great way to make use of small quantities of leftover yarn. For more information, please call the school.
